KAMLOOPS — Smoke filled the South Thompson valley Saturday evening, due to a wildfire near Niskonlith Lake west of Chase, which has grown to 250 hectares in size, according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The fire started Saturday afternoon and has continued to grow throughout the evening, burning through grass and brush on the Neskonlith 1 Reserve.

A second blaze also began burning nearby in the River Flats area, which has grown to 100 hectares in size.

There’s been no word on the cause of either of the fires, but CFJC Today has reached out to BC Wildfire Service for more information which we’ll pass along once it becomes available.
