TRU swimmers medal at B.C. Provincial Winter Swim meet

KAMLOOP — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack swim team had a small contingent at this weekend’s  Swim BC  2019 Winter provincial championships which wrapped up Sunday (Mar 10) at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Kamloops, BC.

Six swimmers were involved.   As a team, the WolfPack finished 18th out of 40 teams.  The men’s squad finished 13 th out of 40 in the group.

Ryley McRae (1st year, Kamloops, BC) won gold medals in the 200 fly, 800 free and 200 freestyle.  He captured two bronze medals in the 100 free and the 200 IM.  His final swim was a fourth place finish in the 400 butterfly.

Matt Gauthier (2nd year, Sylvan Lake, AB) had three first place finishes in consolation finals of the 100 fly, the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke events. He added two second place finishes in the consolation finals of the 100 breast stroke and 50 free style.
