KAMLOOPS — The 23rd Kamloops Film Festival kicks off Thursday (March 7), running until March 16.

The event will present 23 films for 23 years with something for everyone, from family-friendly events to Darkfest.

The film festival will also include a variety of provincially, nationally and internationally produced films.

“There’s B.C.-bound films, there are Canadian films, there are international films, so we really do try to provide a mix that allows people to be challenged by cinema,” said Events Chair Alicia Ashcroft. “There are some intense films, and we always just think this is a really good opportunity to experience these films in the community.”

All films will be screened at the Paramount Theatre downtown.

A full schedule of events is available on the Kamloops Film Festival website, as is ticket information.

“The ticket sales are very strong and stellar this year,” Ashcroft said. “You know we had a huge burst at the 20th anniversary, but it always is quite strong and we have a very solid, loving demographic that are very excited about the festival each year.”
