BANFF — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says 20 cars left the tracks when a Canadian Pacific Railway freight train derailed west of Banff, Alta.
The board says 10 of the cars were carrying grain and the other 10 were empty auto carriers that derailed Thursday afternoon at mile 87 of the Laggan SubDivision.
Canadian Pacific says no one was hurt and there are no public safety concerns.
The company also says there were no dangerous goods involved.
Crews were dispatched Thursday evening to the remote scene to begin the cleanup, while the safety board continues to gather information on the accident.
Three CP employees were killed earlier in February when a train derailed near Field, British Columbia.
