KAMLOOPS — Organizers of last month’s Camp Out to End Youth Homelessness say the event raised more than $50,000.

A Way Home Kamloops says more than 60 people participated in the December 14 event, helping raise $52,521.16.

Participants spent the night in cardboard boxes to raise money for Safe Suites in Kamloops, a “bridge from the streets to housing with built in supports.”

Executive Director Katherine McParland says the total means the organization will be able to launch Safe Suites this spring.
