KAMLOOPS — Highway 1 west of Kamloops has now re-opened after a vehicle incident last night had the road shut down for hours.

Kamloops Fire and Rescue Captain Mike Haines says crews responded to a single vehicle rollover just east of the Coquihalla, Highway 1 interchange around 5:20 pm.

“Our crews arrived, and one person was already out of the vehicle. The second person was deceased inside the vehicle, so crews remained on scene until the coroner arrived.”

Haines says its early to say but according to crews, it appears the driver had swerved to avoid a deer.
