KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has announced it has entered into a three-year lease with BC Housing to operate the 55-unit Mission Flats Manor that has now been in operation for two months.

The City says the lease, at $1 per year, supports council’s goal of creating more affordability throughout the community.

“The lease with BC Housing supports Council’s goals and objectives as it ensures Kamloops maintains a high quality of life while meeting the challenge of a growing community by encouraging housing diversity and affordability throughout the community,” said the City in a release. “This lease is in correlation with local projects that BC Housing is undertaking under the Rapid Response to Homelessness Initiative.”

The Mission Flats Manor opened its doors in November, bringing 55 people off the streets in the hopes of helping turn their lives around. The transitional housing, run by ASK Wellness, will remain operational for at least three years.
