Overnight snowfall expected for Coquihalla Highway
KAMLOOPS — Drivers planning to hit the Coquihalla tonight (Dec. 22) can expect to run into some snowfall on their travels.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Gregg Walters says a frontal system coming from the coast is expected to bring snow to the Coquihalla this evening, and to the section between Hope and Merritt tomorrow morning.
“Getting up to about 5-10 centimetres (of snow) tonight,” He explains, “And then for Sunday, looking at flurries bringing about 2-4 centimetres.”
As far as the section from Merritt to Kamloops today, Walters says there likely won’t be any major accumulations, with the highway only expecting a couple centimetres of snow tonight.
