KAMLOOPS — The provincial government is responding to an urgent need from communities to open additional shelters.

The new shelters and housing are aimed at helping ease pressure on communities where existing shelters are running at or over capacity.

Kamloops is one of several communities receiving support, and is slated to receive a 30-bed shelter operated by the Mustard Seed New Life Community.

More temporary and extreme weather shelters may be added across the province throughout the winter season.
