BARRIERE — Local outdoor enthusiasts are being reminded to give their trip plans to others before heading out, after a miscommunication this morning.

Kamloops Search and Rescue Manager Alan Hobler says the search team was called out to the Barriere area early this morning (Dec. 1) to look for two missing hunters.

"We deployed, but ended up getting stood down," He explains, "RCMP were able to locate the two individuals. It turned out they weren't aware that they were reported missing."

Hobler says this is a classic example of not letting those back at home know when the trip plan had changed.

"What we like to see is a trip plan left with a responsible person," Hobler says, "And they are available on the Adventure Smart website. Its a good tool for planning any outdoor activity."

While it was a tad frustrating for search crews, Hobler says it was a happy ending overall, and the families did the right thing by reporting their loved ones missing.
