Investigators suspect unattended candle caused Westsyde house fire

KAMLOOPS — An unattended candle is the suspected cause of a fire that caused significant damage to a home on Bank Rd. in Westsyde Wednesday evening. 

The flames quickly engulfed the small home, leaving three Kamloops residents without a place to lay their heads.

RCMP search for man who disappeared after party at Sun Peaks

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are asking the public for information about the disappearance of a young man in Sun Peaks. 

19-year-old Ryan Shtuka attended a party at a home on Burfield Drive at Sun Peaks Friday (Feb. 16) night, and was last seen at 2:10 Saturday morning.

Outdoor enthusiasts urged to exercise caution in avalanche terrain

KAMLOOPS — B.C.'s Ministry of Public Safety is asking people to be prepared when travelling to the backcountry this weekend. 

With Saturday's snow fall and a sharp decrease in temperature over much of the province the risk of natural and human-caused avalanches has increased.
