KAMLOOPS — Update: Good news. Kamloops RCMP say the man reported this morning has been located.

Earlier: Kamloops RCMP are seeking the public’s help in locating a man.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says 59 year old Darrell Hicks contacted his daughter four days ago and said he was headed to Kamloops to pan for gold but has not contacted her since.

He was staying in an older model, two-tone GMC pick-up truck and an older model, brown travel trailer.

“Pings of his cell phone indicate that the phone is now shut off, however the last ping location, on April 14, had mapped closely to Spences Bridge,” Shelkie says. “Lytton RCMP has been engaged and are actively searching this area. It is unknown if Darrell is still in the Spences Bridge area or moved elsewhere to pan for gold.”

Darrell is described as white, with short brown/grey hair and a mustache. He is originally from Calgary but has spent the last year living in his trailer in southern B.C.
