KAMLOOPS — The Blazers wrapped up their 2017-18 home schedule with a 4-2 loss to the Prince George Cougars, to finish 14-19-3 at the Sandman Centre.

Jermaine Loewen opened the scoring for Kamloops with a power play goal, his 36th of the season from Quinn Benjafield and Nolan Kneen at 3:49 of the first period.

Four minutes later the Cougars, on a power play, tied it on a Max Kryski goal.

Prince George then took the lead when Rhett Rhinehart scored, and went up by two on Kryski’s second of the game, scoring three times on the first six shots.

The Cougars scored the only goal of the second period off the stick of Austin Crossley.

With the Blazers trailing 4-1 after two, the score didn’t tell the story.

Isaiah DiLaura was a fortress in the Prince George net, stopping 31 of 32 shots through the first two periods.

The Blazers finally found a crack in the DiLaura dam when 16-year old Connor Zary scored his 9th of the season midway through the third.

The Blazers are the second lowest scoring team in the league, and that was magnified in only scoring twice on 54 shots in a 4-2 loss in the final home game of the season.

Before leaving the ice after the game each player hugged team captain Nick Chyzowski, who was playing the final home game of his five-year career, all of it with the Blazers.
