Training for 21st annual Boogie the Bridge begins

KAMLOOPS — It’s a sure sign of spring.

Training for CFJC TV’s Boogie the Bridge began Sunday morning, with dozens of runners in red gathering at the Sandman Signature Hotel for the first day of a training clinic leading up to the big event.

Boogie the Bridge is in its 21st year. Organizer Jo Berry says the spirit of the run has stood the test of time.

“It’s such a divine thing that happened 20 years ago,” Berry said. “The simplest way of putting it is, people always ask, ‘what’s about the Boogie red?’ Right? You see everybody in red. And 21 years ago it was resembling kindness, love, passion, energy, and change. Today that’s exactly what it is. Anyone who’s been at the Boogie knows the feeling of it.”

Berry says people who missed Sunday’s kick-off can still join Boogie training over the next couple of weeks.

The 1K, 5K, 10K, and 21K runs take place on April 29.
