WolfPack Baseball lose tough one to ASU’s club team

MESA, ARIZ. – After winning two games Friday, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team fell to .500 down in Arizona on Saturday after losing to the Arizona State University Sun Devils club team. The final score was 16-8.

The ‘Pack used six pitchers over the course of the game. Jack Suhai (Medicine Hat, AB) ended up with the loss as he allowed three runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched. Walks were the problem for the team on Saturday as they walked 15 batters. Eric Turner (Grand Prairie, AB) started the game and threw two innings. Matt Pidlisecky (Abbostford, BC), Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC), Aaron Lemoine (Winnipeg, MB) and Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) all saw time on the mound.

Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) led the charge offensively for TRU as he went 3-4 with a double and four RBIs. Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) hit a two-run homerun in the seventh inning. He also scored twice. Malik James (Toronto, ON) had a RBI double and finished 1-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) got on base four times with two hits and two walks. Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) went 1-2 with a RBI single. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) and Adam Filmon (Winnipeg, MB) also collected a base hit each.

The ‘Pack will look to get back in the win column Sunday as they take on Mesa Community College at 12pm.
