TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C.—    The federal government has given the green light to a coal mining project proposed for central B-C.

Environment Minister Catherine McKenna announced approval yesterday for the Murray River mining project near Tumbler Ridge.

The project — by H-D Mining International — will mine metallurgical coal, known as coking coal, which is used to produce steel.

McKenna says approval for the project includes 104 legally-binding conditions for environmental projection in the area.
