ARMSTRONG, B.C. — RCMP are investigating what they call a suspicious occurrence near Armstrong Elementary School.

Police received a report of a suspicious man, who attempted to speak to two girls who were walking home from school around 3 pm last Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 5).

The encounter occurred in the 3010 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

The man apparently stopped his vehicle and spoke to the girls, but the girls didn’t respond and quickly walked away, leading to the suspect vehicle driving toward the highway.

Police say the girls did the absolute right thing by not engaging the male and quickly walking away together.

“We are issuing this advisory out of an abundance of caution and praise the youth for taking note of the vehicle and man’s descriptors,” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “We have received no further complaints in relation to this and believe it is an isolated incident.”

The man was said to be in his 50’s with a mustache and darker coloured skin.

He was driving an older model vehicle, gold and brown in colour, with rust above the tires.

Police are looking to talk to the driver, or with anyone with more information.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Armstrong RCMP at 250-546-3028, or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
