More evacuation orders in the Cariboo

WILLIAMS LAKE —   After several days of fairly stable activity on B-C’s 138 wildfires, shifts in wind and weather have forced the Cariboo Regional District to expand evacuation orders for two rural areas.

Residents in a region east of Nazko, about 100 kilometres west of Quesnel, were ordered out of their homes late last night because of danger from a 13-hundred-square-kilometre that is uncontained and has been burning since early July.

Just a few minutes later, the regional district also expanded an evacuation order for a rural area north of Kleena Kleen, about 300 kilometres west of Williams Lake.

Because of road closures on Highway 20, Kleena Kleen evacuees are being asked to head west to Bella Coola, while those forced off Nazko-area properties are advised to register with the Red Cross in Quesnel.
