Small fire extinguished quickly on McArthur Island

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews made quick work of a fire on McArthur Island this afternoon.

Flames popped up at about 1:15 p.m., on the west side of the island along the walking trail behind the golf course.

Asst. Chief Dave MacMahon says the blaze was little more than a landscape fire, and once crews accessed it, they doused it quickly.

No word what caused the fire.
