KAMLOOPS — On Sunday the streets of Kamloops will run red with runners, as the 20th annual Boogie The Bridge will see thousands take to the road in a signature event for the city.

Race packages are being picked up at the McArthur Island Sports Centre, where the Boogie Expo is taking place. Local vendors, as well as Boogie the Bridge sponsors are also on hand.

Christina Stewart, one of the Boogie Expo organisers says the event has taken on a life of it’s own.

“The Expo is becoming an event, itself,” Stewart explains. “(Mac Island) is a new venue for us this year. Previously we were at TCC, which was an amazing supporter of for us, we just had the need to grow this year.”

Boogie the Bridge organisers, are hoping they can break the 3000 participant mark in this year’s event. While Stewart won’t be running in Boogie on Sunday, she says the event is one of a kind.

“Personally, I moved to Kamloops three years ago, and it was one of the first big events I did when I came here… it was like none other,” Stewart says, adding “Just seeing everyone come down with their families and friends… the sea of red… the energy is just awesome. It’s electric.”

Expo times:

  • Friday, April 28th 2-7 pm
  • Saturday, April 29th 10 am – 2 pm
