WolfPack baseball wraps up Arizona spring training schedule

KAMLOOP —  After losing two games against Yavapai Community College yesterday, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball were back on the field today against the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds and Paradise Valley Community College Pumas. TRU took game one against Mesa 2-1 and then lost to Paradise Valley 10-6.

 

Dillon Ferguson was brilliant in game one for the WolfPack as he only allowed one run on two hits in six innings. He walked five and struck out six. Aaron Lemoine threw two shutout innings in relief, walking one and striking out two. Qwinn Nesplak got the save in the ninth, striking out the side.

Josh HIllis led off the game with a double and scored later in the first off a Blayne Halland groundout. Hillis ended 2-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Halland finished 1-4 with a double and RBI. Adam Filmon and Connor McKenzie also collected a base hit each. Josh Snider scored a run.

Zach Chaba started on the mound against Paradise Valley. He threw four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, He didn’t walk a batter and struck out one. Joe Siniscalchi threw two innings, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk. Anthony Walcott threw one inning. He allowed one run on two hits. Duncan Elgert allowed two runs on two hits in his inning of work.

The ‘Pack exploded for a six run second inning but that’s all the offense they could come up with in game two. Isiah McDonald went 2-2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Josh Iannetti and Nick Peters both had an RBI single each. Blayne Halland had a RBI sacrifice fly and finished 1-2. Josh Hillis went 1-2 with a run scored and a walk.

The WolfPack head home Saturday morning but will stop in Bellingham for a game against the White Rock Tritons. Game time is at 3pm weather permitting.
